FERRARI CLASSICHE – FERRARI 550 MARANELLO

A quick story if I may about our excitement towards this 2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello in Grigio Titanio…

When I began representing Ferrari as GSM of Penke Wynn Ferrari Maserati, the first Ferrari I sold was a Rosso Corsa 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta during the private VIP opening of Wynn Resorts Las Vegas on the evening of April 28, 2005. I bought the car for inventory purely because I liked the Nero 550 Barchetta gracing the cover of FORZA earlier that year.

The following week, the second Ferrari I sold was a Grigio Silverstone 2000 Ferrari 550 Maranello while still 8 feet in the air on the service lift, receiving an engine-out belt service.

Fast forwarding to 2022, I held the position as GSM at Guiseppe Risi’s Ferrari of Houston. Our service department was triaging a local 550 Maranello with a dead battery, and I absolutely had to know more.

Quick records confirmed this 550 as a true One-Owner, delivered by Ferrari of Houston in June 2001 to a local Oil & Gas executive. Great car, great story, and a great opportunity.

This Ferrari had very limited usage … traveling just 1000 miles from 2007 through 2022!

After a few weeks of phone calls, Ferrari of Houston once again owned this ultra-low mileage 550 Maranello.

Our all-star service advisor and I opened the check book, dedicated to allowing our Ferrari Master Technicians to bring to market the best 550 Maranello in the country.

The task list from the Summer of 2022 included, but was not limited to:

FERRARI CLASSICHE
Installation of new clutch, throw out bearing, and rear main seal
(4) new Continental tires
Replacement of fuel pumps, filters, and accompanying gaskets
Replacement of air conditioning line
Annual Service including timing belts

Completed in August 2022, this 550 sold off the showroom floor before it was advertised.

Along with the prized FERRARI CLASSICHE book, a proper binder of 30 pages of Ferrari of Houston repair orders dating back to 2001 will be passed along to the next caretaker.

As demonstrated during the Monterrey Car Week auctions, 550’s are gaining well deserved attention in the today’s market.
